Hello there! It’s lovely to see you, and officially start Pink Flag! Before we start diving into the world of motorsport, I want to thank you for subscribing and supporting this project.
Now, let’s dive into what happened last week at the 23 Hours of Le Mans and my favorite moments before we get into what’s coming this week.
Le Mans Recap.
Last weekend the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race was hosted, a fantastic and historic-filled event. Where teams compete in 3 different categories with the solid goal to see which car can cover the greatest distance in 24 hours. This race is part of the World Endurance Championship and it’s part of the Triple Crown of Motorsports (which is only the most important achievement in motorsports, but we'll talk about that soon *wink*).
You might have seen some familiar faces such as Antonio Giovinazzi, Juan Manuel Correa, Sebastien Bourdais, Scott Dixon, Kamui Kobayashi, Paul di Resta, Esteban Gutierrez, Jimmie Johnson, Daniil Kvyat, and everyone’s favorite Tifoso, Charles Leclerc, who spent the weekend cheering for his team in what became a very special occasion for the Ferrari team after obtaining a historic win.
The Italian-based team was able to take home a victory for the first time since 1965, and their first factory-supported entry in the top category since 1973. Ferrari emerged victorious in the Hypercars category with an AF Corse No. 51 Ferrari 499P, which was driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi.
The energy at Ferrari’s garage was extraordinary, their reaction to winning reminded us of the beauty of coming together as a team to work on something and get the reward it deserves, and that’s the true beauty of motorsports. A huge congrats to everyone involved in the Ferrari Hypercar and, Fai battere il cuore!
Inter Europol Competition took home the win in the LMP2 category with drivers Jakub Smiechowski, Albert Costa, and Fabio Scherer. The team was able to overcome a foot injury to Fabio Scherer after a pitlane incident three laps into the race.
In the LMGTE Am, Corvette Racing with drivers Nicky Catsburg, Ben Keating, and, Nico Varrone dominated the category, and took the 9th win for the team at Le Mans. After starting on Pole to having suspension problems, they managed to make a stunning comeback.
In the Single-entry class (or everyone’s favorite) NASCAR’S GARAGE 56 with legends like Jimmie Johnson, Jenson Button, and Mike Rockenfeller on the wheel took the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for a spin and managed to finish the race in the 39th position out of 62 cars entered. The team’s main goal was to finish the race, and not only did they do it, but they were also 5 seconds faster than every GTE car at Le Mans.
So… what else happened at Le Mans?
I’ve talked about this on Twitter but we had 5 women competing in different categories, as well as an all-female team, the “Iron Dames”, who are currently third place in the FIA World Endurance Championship, after obtaining a solid P4 in the LMGTE Am category.
We also had some crazy moves when the rain started, well it was more synchronized spinning to be fair.
Overall, the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans was a very fun race, filled with many emotions, and fun moments, and I’m so excited to keep following the whole WEC championship and share with all of you this experience!
What’s coming this weekend?
Well, FORMULA 1 IS BACK (finally!), this weekend Lance Stroll’s GP, sorry sorry, I mean the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix is happening. Round 9 is here, and with 70 laps, 14 turns, and 2 DRS zones, I can’t wait to see what this weekend will bring to us!
With so many records on the line like Red Bull Racing’s 100th win, Max Verstappen is on the verge to equal Ayrton Senna with his 41st win, or will the 33rd finally happen for Fernando Alonso? Let me know what your predictions are!
For all of you Moto GP fans, the German GP in the Sachsenring with 10 left corners, 3 right corners, and a total track length of 3.67 Km, it looks like a very promising weekend with hopeful surprises to all of us.

Last, but not least, Indycar is back to legendary Road America this weekend, the four-mile, 14-turn road circuit will host Round 8 of the Indycar Championship. Will last year’s history repeat itself and give Josef Newgarden another win? Or will we have a new winner this weekend? I guess there’s only one way to find out…!
It’s about to be a busy weekend and I can’t wait to see what will happen! (hopefully, my drivers do well because I depend on them if we are being honest here)
